Agartala, 16 th October 2025: A 30-year-old woman named Shahana Akhter was allegedly subjected to a brutal assault by her husband Jasim Mia in the Kaichcha Khola ADC Village under Jatrapur police station. The incident has shocked residents of the Dhanpur assembly constituency took place early this morning when Jasim, reportedly under the influence of intoxicants, violently beat his wife until she lost consciousness.

Neighbours informed that Jasim then used a sharp machete to cut off Shahana’s hair and publicly displayed the act to neighbours. The disturbing scene prompted immediate outrage among family members and locals, who attempted to restrain the accused.
