MONROE, La. (KNOE) - The Monroe Police Department is investigating how a “homemade 12-gauge shotgun” wound up in a trash can near a government building.
MPD found the shotgun after responding to calls about an injured man at the Northeast Louisiana State Office Building (24 Accent Drive) on Oct. 15.
The man told police he was at the bus stop when he noticed a pipe in the trash can, which happened to be the shotgun.
MPD said the shotgun went off and injured the man’s hand .
