Work on a permanent exhibit showcasing the life and career of Jimmy Buffett in the National Maritime Museum of the Gulf can move forward after the Mobile City Council approved two contracts worth a combined $540,000.

After growing up in Mobile, Buffett chronicled life on the Gulf Coast in the “trop rock” genre of music, achieving fame with songs like “Margaritaville” and “A Pirate Looks at Forty.” He died at age 76 in September 2023.
