A California Ph.D student has been charged with a slew of sex crimes in connection with a series of alleged assaults over three years.

Sizhe Weng, a 30-year-old pursuing his doctoral studies at the University of Southern California, is charged with forcible rape, sodomy by controlled substance or anesthesia, rape by controlled substance and sexual penetration by controlled substance or anesthesia, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office said in a statement this week.
