The U.S. Marine Corps has announced a live-fire exercise will take place Saturday in Southern California to celebrate its 250th anniversary at an event set to be attended by Vice President JD Vance, sparking a dispute with California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) over whether it will be necessary to temporarily shut down a nearby major highway.
Newsom, in a Wednesday night social media post, called the event a “vanity parade,” claiming that “Donald Trump and JD Vance think that shutting down (Interstate 5) to shoot out missiles from ships is how you respect the military.”
