Hurricanes safety Jakobe Thomas walked into the victorious locker room after UM took care of business and beat rival Florida State on the road. The Hurricanes had built an insurmountable early lead and kept the Seminoles at bay despite a furious comeback attempt.
Thomas didn’t find uproarious joy in that locker room. There were no rivalry-game celebrations.
“Walking into the locker room and the team not being happy after we won like that — that’s what’s different,” Thomas said after the game. “These guys are dedicated. I can’t preach enough how much we work each and every day. We’re in the building early in the morning, late at night, watching tape together as a team. When I walked in and nobody was really excited after the win, I knew that we’ve got bigger goals.”
