JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville drivers will soon notice a new roundabout at the intersection of Old Roosevelt Boulevard and Post Street in the Murray Hill neighborhood. It's all in an effort to ease traffic and make the roads safer at the busy intersection.

A spokesperson with the Florida Department of Transportation said the opening of the new roundabout should cut travel times in half. What's unique about the roundabout design is that FDOT built it with a railroad track going right through it.

Construction began in June 2025, and crews were seen wrapping up construction ahead of the roundabout opening around 9 a.m. Friday.

All of the traffic signals that were there before are gone.
