TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV/Gray Florida Capital Bureau) - State lawmakers will consider several options to reduce or eliminate property taxes during the next legislative session.
Seven potential constitutional amendments were filed on Thursday. In an email to members, Speaker Daniel Perez said he wants to give voters options on how they want to reduce property taxes.
“What has been lost in this debate has been the fact that the ultimate decision on what should happen with property taxes belongs not with elected officials but with the people of Florida,” Perez said in the email. “If we have faith in the voters to elect us, we should not be afraid to let them be a part of the conversation about the taxes they pay.”
