BIG PRAIRIE TOWNSHIP — A three-hour standoff in Big Prairie Township ended peacefully Tuesday night with the arrest of a wanted felony suspect, according to the Newaygo County Sheriff’s Office.
According to an Oct. 16 news release, deputies were dispatched around 8:33 p.m. Oct. 14 to a residence on First Street for a report of a drunk and disorderly individual who was reportedly making threats and suggesting he had a firearm.
When deputies arrived, they located the 46-year-old Big Prairie Township man, who fled to his vehicle and drove away. Deputies attempted a traffic stop, but the suspect continued driving, leading to a pursuit that ended at a residence on Second Street.
After stopping, the suspect ran inside the home, where deputies established a perimeter and tried to communicate w
