Week 9 of the high school football season is officially here. This week is headlined by some solid Thursday night games between Williston and Gainesville High and Hawthorne and Dunnellon.

Friday is marked by small town showdowns between Lafayette and Trenton, as well as Newberry and Fort White. All four of those teams need wins for their playoff seeding.

Given that Buchholz is off, and Hawthorne and GHS play spotlight games Thursday, that leaves two other county teams. Santa Fe also plays Thursday and welcomes Lake Weir to Alachua. On Friday, Eastside, fresh off a district title, heads to Jacksonville to face winless Sandalwood.

Outside the county, Bradford and Chiefland are both favored for easy home wins. Check out our predictions for the week's games here.
