The Sandwich High School volleyball team helped its chances of earning a spot in the MIAA state tournament and at the same time hindered the Mashpee squad’s hopes of doing the same on Wednesday evening , October 15 , in Mashpee. The Blue Knights came out strong and never looked back in a 3-1 win.
The Knights improved to 8-8 overall and bounced back from a loss earlier in the week. Mashpee, which has been reeling of late, dropped to 4-12 overall as it lost its sixth match in a row.
It has been a tumultuous week for the Falcons. Former Falcon Olivia Oliveira was named the varsity coach this week after Andy Mather resigned from the position prior to the match. “I no longer coach at Mashpee,” he said in a text message to the Enterprise.
The Blue Knights won the match 25-13, 25-15, 18-25,
