FILLMORE COUNTY, Minn. — A judge sentenced Samantha Petersen to four years in prison for her role in a deadly crash involving an Amish buggy.
Prosecutors said Petersen was under the influence of methamphetamine when she crashed into the buggy on County Road One in September 2023 . The collision resulted in the deaths of two children.
Petersen and her twin sister, Sarah, attempted to mislead law enforcement by claiming Sarah was the driver. Sarah previously received a 90-day jail sentence for her involvement.
Petersen will be held at the Minnesota Correctional Facility in Shakopee.
