A report of a shooting brought a large police response to a South Los Angeles middle school Thursday afternoon, but a search turned up no victims or evidence of a shooting.
Officers were sent to Los Angeles Academy Middle School, at 644 E. 56th St., just after noon Thursday to investigate, according to a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman.
Video from the location showed numerous squad cars and a large group of mostly young people standing outside the school.
An hour after the initial report, searches by LAPD officers and school police located no victims or evidence of a shooting, but one person was taken into custody at the scene, according to the LAPD, which did not elaborate on the detainee.
Searches continued into the early afternoon.
