(KRON) -- University of San Francisco Athletic Director Larry Williams died Thursday morning at the age of 62, the school announced. Williams was working out at War Memorial Gym at the Sobrato Center when he passed, university officials said.

He assumed the role of athletic director in August of 2022.

Williams, who was born in Orange County, Calif., is survived by his wife, Laura, their children, Kristin, Sean, Scott, Eric, and Louis, their families, and his grandchildren. He played in the NFL for eight years; he went to the University of Notre Dame, where he was a two-time All-American.
