A Massachusetts residential school worker died after being assaulted by a 14-year-old student trying to leave a dorm without permission Wednesday, officials said.
Amy Morrell, 53, died Thursday after being hospitalized overnight following the altercation at Meadowridge Academy in Swansea, according to the Bristol County District Attorney's Office. They didn't share the name of the teenage girl, who has been charged with assault and battery causing serious injury.

The teen kicked Morrell, of Riverside, Rhode Island, in the chest as she and other staff tried to restrain the girl, who was trying to leave the building about 6:55 p.m., according to prosecutors.
