Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon was grazed by a bullet Thursday afternoon while responding to a call about a shooting, and Louisiana State Police are now investigating the incident as an officer-involved shooting after two more were sent to the hospital with injuries.

Shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday, Falcon and a patrol deputy responded to call about a shooting at the 600 block of Bayou Drive in Pierre Part, according to a release from the Sheriff's Office. At the scene, the two confronted the person they believed to have been involved in the shooting. As Falcon was talking, the suspect fired a shot that grazed Falcon's arm, the release said.

An exchange of gunfire followed, and a ccording to State Police, one person was struck and sent to a hospital with serious injuries
