WAYNESBORO, Miss. (WDAM) - Donna Thompson still is pleading with the Waynesboro community two years after her son, Kenneth Johnson, was killed.

“We’re just here waiting to get justice for him and show that he didn’t die in vain,” Thompson said.

The 26-year-old was shot several times while standing in his yard on Dr. Martin Luther King Drive.

Johnson’s family told WDAM 7 that video footage shows a vehicle pulling up and firing several shots in his direction.

“We made it to the hospital, and I was able to go in the hospital with my mom until the doctors got ready to, basically, tell us that he didn’t make it,” said Courtney McGrew, Kenneth Johnson’s sister.

At the time of Johnson’s death, the investigation was being handled by Lt. Don Hopkins with the Waynesboro Police Department.
