LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Kentucky's governor is urging the President to oppose billions in federal funding cuts from the U.S. Department of Energy.
In a letter sent to President Donald Trump, Gov. Andy Beshear said of the $24 billion that would be cut, $537 million of it had been awarded to five Kentucky projects that are expected to create more than 700 jobs.

“The projects at risk of losing this funding are helping reshore American manufacturing and jobs from China, and these cuts jeopardize that progress for our commonwealth and our country,” the governor said. “I urge you to oppose these harmful cuts and protect hundreds of jobs and economic development, which will provide much-needed opportunity for Kentucky families and our rural communities.”
