GREENSBORO, N.C. — A Guilford County judge has ordered a Greensboro hotel to shut down after city officials said it became a hub for drugs, prostitution and violence.

The Howard Johnson at 2004 Veasley Street is now closed to new guests or tenants after Superior Court Judge Lisa Johnson-Tonkins signed a temporary restraining order (TRO) on Thursday in a nuisance abatement case filed by the City of Greensboro on behalf of the State of North Carolina.

City attorneys said the property, owned by Classio Hospitality, LLC, “has created an ongoing threat to public safety and welfare” and “has been repeatedly used for felony narcotics trafficking, prostitution, and acts of violence,” according to a complaint filed Oct. 14.
