SALLISAW, Okla. (KNWA/KFTA) — In quiet Sallisaw, school is a place where parents expect safety and trust. But one mother says that safety was shattered earlier this week at Eastside Elementary School.
KNWA/FOX24 sat down with a woman who asked to go by the name 'Beth', in order to conceal identity, says her 11-year-old fifth-grade son was sexually assaulted on school grounds, allegedly in view of staff and security cameras.
"I dropped my son off Tuesday morning thinking, you know, he's going to be safe," Beth said. "His whole world is just changed in a matter of 48 hours."
Beth described receiving a phone call from Sallisaw Public Schools around 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 13, informing her of an incident involving her son.
