TAMPA, Fla. — A Florida doctor says he was mistreated after being detained by Israeli forces while attempting to deliver medical supplies to Gaza.
Dr. Dia Daoud, a Daytona Beach resident, was part of the Global Sumud Flotilla (Gaza Aid Flotilla) that was intercepted by Israeli forces on Wednesday, Oct. 08. He says the group was detained for several days and subjected to harsh conditions and abuse.
“The prison was filthy — we didn’t have water — we didn’t have toilet paper,” Daoud said, describing his time in custody.
According to CAIR -Florida, the flotilla's mission was to deliver humanitarian aid to starving civilians in Gaza.
