A ban on street-drinking in Fishponds that lapsed in 2023, sparking a resurgence in antisocial behaviour , will be reinstated.
Bristol city councillors unanimously agreed to bring back the public space protection order to target drunken yobs in a specified zone including Fishponds Park and surrounding streets, both north and south of the A432, although with slightly different boundaries to before.
The public health and communities committee voted in favour of the ‘no-drinking zone’ after hearing it had support from 95 per cent of people in the area and admitting the local authority had “dropped the ball” on the issue by letting it expire two years ago.
