BEREA, Ohio — At halftime of the Steelers’ 23-9 victory over the Browns Sunday, Steelers kicker Chris Boswell took a huge divot out of the turf at Acrisure Stadium while he was warming up near midfield. Later in the third quarter, not far from the same spot, Boswell’s plant foot slipped on the turf, causing one of the best kickers in the league to miss from 54 yards, his only miss this season in four attempts from 50-plus yards.

Boswell made kicks of 44, 50 and 48 yards prior to the slip on the playing surface Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers called “borderline unplayable” after the game.

Browns left guard Joel Bitonio, who has played many games at Pittsburgh’s stadium, which they share with the University of Pittsburgh’s football team, called Sunday’s playing surface the worst field
