A rough second period left the Bruins in a hole too big to climb out of in Las Vegas.

Boston gave up the first two goals of the middle period and a bad shorthanded goal late and fell to the Golden Knights, 6-5, on Thursday at T-Mobile Arena.

The loss was the second straight for the Bruins, who are at Colorado on Saturday.

The Bruins took two leads and surrendered them quickly in the first. The Golden Knights tied the game within two minutes of both Tanner Jeannot’s goal that made it 1-0 and Nikita Zadorov’s tally that made it 2-1.

Vegas scored the first two goals of the second period, including the first power play goal that Boston has surrendered this year, to give the Golden Knights a 4-2 lead.
