Bronson Battle Creek Hospital has been certified as a Primary Stroke Center by The Joint Commission, a designation that expands access to advanced stroke care in Calhoun County.

The certification, which upgrades the hospital’s previous status as an Acute Stroke Ready Hospital, followed a July 18 survey that praised Bronson’s stroke care as exceeding national benchmarks, according to a community announcement.

The new designation strengthens Bronson’s regional stroke network, anchored by Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo — a Comprehensive Stroke Center recently ranked No. 1 in Michigan for stroke care by Healthgrades.
