WASHINGTON —

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will meet with President Donald Trump on Friday to discuss the potential U.S. supply of long-range Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, a move that could increase tensions between Russia and Ukraine.

President Trump said he spoke with Russia's President Vladimir Putin on Thursday about the potential missile supply.

"I did actually say, would you mind if I gave a couple of thousand tomahawks to your opposition. I did say that to him. I said it just that way. He didn't like the idea," Trump said.

Putin suggested that if the U.S. supplies these Tomahawk weapons to Ukraine, it would damage relations between Russia and the U.S.
