Chris Hughes and Antony Costa will put their cooking skills to the test in this year's edition of Celebrity MasterChef. The former Love Island contestant and Blue singer will show off their culinary skills in the MasterChef kitchen and hope to cook their way to becoming this year's champion. They will compete against singers Alfie Boe, Jaki Graham, and Michelle Heaton, author and broadcaster Dawn O'Porter, reality stars Ashley Cain and Uma Jammeh, radio presenter Noreen Khan, soap stars Jamie Lomas and Katie McGlynn, Gladiator Jodie Ounsley, aka Fury, RuPaul's Drag Race UK winner Ginger Johnson and sportsmen Alun Wyn Jones and Gaz Choudhry. Celebrity MasterChef was recorded earlier this year, and there were doubts over its broadcast after judge John Torode was fired from the series in the summer after an allegation against him using "an extremely offensive racist term" was upheld. However, a BBC spokesperson explained on Friday that they consulted with all of the contestants before deciding to air the show. "Banijay UK has consulted the celebrities, contestants and guests featured and all have confirmed that they are happy for the shows to be aired," they said. "As we have said previously, these are not straightforward decisions. We have approached this with care and consideration for all involved and we appreciate not everyone will agree with us." This year's celebrity edition will be fronted by Torode and food critic Grace Dent, who stepped in to replace Gregg Wallace while he was suspended pending an investigation into his behaviour. Wallace was sacked in July after an investigation upheld more than 40 complaints of sexually explicit or inappropriate comments against him. This year's amateur series, fronted by Wallace and Torode, was broadcast in August. The 20th series of Celebrity MasterChef will air this autumn, and two Christmas specials will follow later this year.
