LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Multiple people were injured after a bleacher railing collapsed during a regional soccer game at Waggener High School.

St. Matthews Police Chief Barry Wilkerson says the incident happened after several students leaned on the railing while celebrating St. X’s win in a penalty shootout against rival Trinity in the semifinals of the 7th Region Tournament.

St. Matthews dispatch confirmed there were at least two fans taken to the hospital. WAVE News has reached out to St. X to learn how serious those injuries are, but have not heard back.

Waggener was one of the JCPS schools that recently had upgrades made to its football and soccer field. Those upgrades included new bleachers, press boxes and concession stands.
