Southwest Airlines has taken delivery of its first Boeing 737 MAX as part of its fleet modernization plans and "bringing an elevated onboard experience with premium options to our customers," the company said in a press release.

The airline says beginning in late 2026, they will modernize more than half of their Boeing 737-700s, adding in-seat power.

Southwest’s new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft features RECARO R2 BL3710 economy class seats. The German manufacturer's seats feature a multi-adjustable headrest cushion, an ergonomically enhanced seat bottom, a backrest with lumbar support, and armrest design that maximizes seat width.
