ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) - State authorities said a man is facing charges after over 20 dogs were rescued from poor conditions in Orangeburg County.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division said 53-year-old Christopher Corbitt was arrested Wednesday and charged with animal fighting and baiting as well as ill treatment of animals.
SLED said 24 pit bull-type dogs were found on Corbitt’s property in Springfield. Warrants released by SLED state several of the dogs had open wounds, scarring as well as “inadequate housing.” A number of the dogs were also tied up with heavy logging chains.
Warrants also state SLED was provided video showing a dog on Corbitt’s property “with a makeshift shelter consisting of a piece of wood leaning against a fence.”
