When 10-year-old Isabella asked her adoptive dad if she could get her ears pierced, he didn’t contemplate the decision alone.

Before heading to the mall, Peter Mutabazi — a single foster dad who has inspired millions with his story of love and compassion — picked up the phone and called someone he knew would want to be part of this milestone: Isabella’s biological mother.

Mutabazi later took to Instagram to share a video of their heartfelt exchange on the phone, noting that Isabella’s biological mother gave him permission to share the interaction with his followers.

“Hey, how are you?” Mutabazi said over the phone. “So, Isabella has been asking to get her ears pierced, and I just wanted to ask your wisdom. How should I prepare her?”
