The Cornwall Colts played their first game of the 2025-26 Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL) season at the Ed Lumley Arena Thursday, but it wasn’t the ideal welcome back to home ice.
The Ottawa Jr. Senators wrecked the return to the Colts’ home barn, handing Cornwall a 5-3 loss .
The arena reopened this week after a months’ long shutdown so the arena floor could be completely replaced. The pad had not been extensively renovated since the opening of the Cornwall Civic Complex almost 50 years ago, and the work was part of a multi-million dollar set of projects at the complex that also includes a new accessible entry / set of steps at the northwest corner of the building, new humidity control equipment in the arena, and repairs to the facility’s roof.
