SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - The music world is mourning after learning that Ace Frehley, a founding member of the rock band Kiss, died Thursday at the age of 74 and, while his death is impacting people around the world, it also hits close to home for one western Massachusetts resident, who knew the guitarist for half a century.
“…And I met Ace and he wanted to make the guitar blow fire and I said, ‘Well, I can do that, you know, and that’s what got it all started with Ace and me,” said John Robison.
After attending UMass Amherst, Robison turned to engineering music in the 1970’s and his curiosity while working for Pink Floyd led to a meeting with Frehley. The two creative minds went to work almost instantly. “We can make a stainless steel box to put them in, put lights in there, and he
