The Chicago Bears on Friday ruled out kicker Cairo Santos from playing in Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints at Soldier Field.
For the second game in a row, Jake Moody is in line to kick for the Bears. Santos is dealing with a right thigh injury that popped up during the Week 4 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. The injury kept him out of Monday’s win over the Washington Commanders.
Moody, whom the Bears signed to the practice squad a month ago, became the hero Monday night when he made four field goals, including the game-winning kick from 38 yards as time expired.
Santos did not practice at all this week. The Bears are expected to elevate Moody from the practice squad over the weekend. NFL teams can call up a practice squad player three times before they must either sign him to
