COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - Texas A&M University’s new Interim President, Tommy Williams, addressed the public for the first time Thursday, two weeks after his appointment.

At a press conference, Williams emphasized his immediate focus on providing stability to the university. Williams, a former student, vice chancellor, and longtime state legislator, said he believes his background provides valuable experience in navigating both higher education and state government.

He stated clearly that he does not intend to seek the permanent presidency, viewing his role as a temporary bridge during the search for a new leader.
