An employee at a residential therapeutic school in Swansea died Thursday, one day after she was allegedly attacked by a 14-year-old female student who is facing charges, Bristol County prosecutors said.
The employee was identified as Amy Morrell, 53, of Riverside, R.I., Bristol District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III’s office said in a statement.
Shortly before 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, prosecutors said, the Meadowridge Academy student had tried to leave a dorm building without permission.
Morrell and other staff attempted to restrain the student, according to a statement from Quinn’s office.
The student allegedly kicked Morrell in the chest, which caused her to collapse, prosecutors said.
