As Die Spitz finished up its hour-plus set at the Lodge Room in Los Angeles, the four bandmembers threw their arms around each other in an embrace — not directed out at the crowd like a triumphant curtain call — but as if sharing a quiet huddle in celebration of another stage vanquished.

“When you’re with your three best friends, you can do anything in the world!” singer-guitarist Eleanor Livingston had told the crowd earlier over a squall of growing feedback, and based on the evening’s performance, you’d be smart to believe her.
