NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Strong winds expected this weekend have prompted homeowners to begin securing Halloween decorations and outdoor plants ahead of what could be one of the first severe weather weekends this fall.

Danny McKay, a resident of The Nations neighborhood, has been decorating his house for Halloween for years. He said he started the tradition for his children, then continued for his grandchildren and neighborhood kids.

When windy weather is forecast, McKay deflates his blow-up decorations to prevent them from ending up down the street.

“I check them every day to make sure they’re secured down,” McKay said.
