RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Ahead of Saturday’s “No Kings” protest, the Virginia National Guard is now on notice to be ready to come if called.

Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s office confirmed on Friday that the Virginia National Guard will be on “state activity duty.”

The governor later posted on social media about the decision, saying he respects free speech, but will not tolerate violence:

“With planned protests across the country this weekend, including in Virginia, I want to be clear that Virginians have a fundamental right to free speech and peaceful assembly, but that right does not include the destruction of property, looting, vandalism, disruption of traffic, or violence of any kind—for which there will be zero tolerance.
