FORT WORTH, Texas — Fort Worth's top firefighter has resigned, city officials confirmed.

The City of Fort Worth announced Friday that Fire Chief Jim Davis, who has led the Fort Worth Fire Department since Oct. 16, 2018, will resign effective Oct. 31.

Davis had been on paid administrative leave since September . Officials said at the time they could not share any further details due to it being a "personnel matter." In the release announcing Davis' resignation, officials did not elaborate on the motive behind the departure.

“I received word today that Chief Davis has tendered his resignation as fire chief and the City has accepted his resignation,” Mayor Mattie Parker said. “We appreciate Chief Davis’ years of dedicated service to the City and wish him well in his future endeavors.”
