CLAUDE, Texas (KFDA) - Armstrong County commissioners approved an amendment Tuesday to Crusoe Energy’s tax abatement agreement for an AI data center project.

Officials say the data center may be smaller than originally proposed.

The county’s attorney, Scott Sherwood, told commissioners that Crusoe requested changes to the abatements for the 3.5 million-square-foot data center complex south of Claude.

The original plan called for seven buildings on 350 acres, but Crusoe officials now say the project may include as few as three or four buildings.

Revised payment structure approved

Under the amended agreement, the county will receive payments in lieu of taxes of $1.35 million per-year-per-building once each becomes operational.
