A Culver City community celebrated Friday after an ice cream man, who was detained by immigration authorities, was released from federal custody.
Ambrocio Lozano, a beloved neighborhood “palatero” who sold ice cream from his cart, was detained for 114 days after being arrested for being undocumented in June.

Lozano’s attorney said the man also known as Enrique was taken from LA and sent to Texas then New Mexico as his community rallies to raise money for legal fees.
Ultimately, Lozano’s family said he was able to become a legal permanent U.S. resident through a 245(i) petition filed more than 20 years ago through his wife’s green card.
Lozano’s attorney said based on the merits of the case, she hadn’t expected him
