An FIR has been registered against an IPS officer and six of his family members and friends on charges of dowry harassment and mental cruelty against his wife, a practising doctor in Noida, police said.

The case was registered against Shivanshu Rajput, a 2019-batch IPS officer posted as superintendent of police (SP) with the State Crime Record Bureau in Bengaluru , Karnataka, and his family members on the complaint of his wife Dr Kriti Singh, a resident of Jaypee Wishtown, Noida.

The couple, who got married in December 2021, has a two-year-old son.

The accused will be questioned soon, police said.

The complainant has alleged that she has been facing harassment since her marriage.
