The Mayor of North Chicago is set to sign an executive order addressing immigration enforcement in the city as federal agents continue with the Trump administration's ‘Operation Midway Blitz’ immigration crackdown.
Mayor Leon Rockingham Jr. told NBC Chicago he does not support the operation.
He said federal agents have been using the Naval Station Great Lakes as an office space since early September and learned this week they plan to continue the use of the space for the time being.
“It was a 30-day process that ended October 5. I called the executive officer of the base, he said it’s been extended now from what I hear it’s been extended to the end of the year,” he said.
