PHOENIX — TSMC Arizona has started mass-producing AI chips for NVIDIA, marking a major milestone for the company’s north Phoenix facility.
The company celebrated the launch during an event on Thursday attended by NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang and TSMC executives.
TSMC ’s factory is still under construction, with about a third of the site completed. But officials said the first batch of NVIDIA’s Blackwell AI chips has already been delivered.
The Blackwell chip, designed by NVIDIA, is built specifically for artificial intelligence systems.
“The single most important chip is being manufactured here in the United States by the most advanced fab at TSMC here in the United States,” Huang said.
