MEMPHIS, Tenn. - As the United States enters the third week of a federal shutdown, the Bluff City's congressman is warning Memphis families that they may lose access to federal funds for food.
"There's enough money in it for this month, but there might not be enough money in it for next month, said U.S. Rep. Steve Cohen, D-Tenn.
For the first time on Friday, the state of Tennessee confirmed SNAP benefits are not a guarantee for November.
"If the federal government shutdown continues, benefits for November may not be issued," reads this online statement from the Tennessee Department of Human Services.
