Three Indian nationals have tragically lost their lives, and five others are currently missing after a launch boat capsized near Beira port in central Mozambique. The incident occurred on Friday during a routine crew transfer to a tanker anchored offshore.
At the time of the accident, there were fourteen Indian nationals aboard the boat. The cause of the capsizing is still under investigation. Fortunately, five individuals were rescued and are reported to be safe, although one is receiving treatment in a local hospital in Beira.
The Indian High Commission is actively coordinating with local authorities and maritime agencies to continue the search for the missing individuals. They are also providing support to the families of the deceased. In a statement, the mission expressed its condolences, saying, "We convey our heartfelt condolences on the loss of lives, including of three Indian nationals, in a boat accident off Beira port. The mission is in contact with families of those who have lost their lives in this unfortunate accident and is extending all possible assistance to them."
