DANVILLE, Pa. — An event was held to combat student vaping at a high school football game in Montour County .

Beyond the Hype hosted the event at the Danville Ironmen Stadium during the Shikellamy vs. Danville football game. People were given glowsticks, handclappers, foam fingers, and other goodies at the event.

Beyond the Hype, which is a state-run program, offers resources to help kids quit vaping. The state chose Danville for this due to increased teenage vaping numbers in the community.

"The state is piloting this program, and they were just choosing some local schools in Montour, in Northumberland County," said Heather Hackenberg, Danville Area High School. "We've seen a little bit of an increase in student vaping, and so they decided to start here with us."
