PONCHATOULA, La. — For 26-year-old Denyelle Burley, even the smallest movements take help, patience, and pain.

Weeks after a violent crash that left her, her husband, and their three children seriously injured, Burley says she’s still learning how to live again.

“I can’t walk. I can’t even stand up,” she said. “My mom has to lift me on and off the sofa — on and off the toilet. It’s degrading.”

Burley says the crash happened Sept. 5 while she was driving to pick up pizza for her kids. According to Ponchatoula police, a truck driven by 68-year-old Anthony Conley was speeding more than 80 mph in a 45-mile zone when it hit another car — sending it into Burley’s lane.
