Edna Karr came into Friday’s District 9-5A game against Jesuit with one of the top defenses in the state.
The Cougars proved that by smothering the Blue Jays spread attack while playing complementary football with a strong running game for a 41-0 win at the Shrine on Airline.
Karr (7-0, 4-0) held Jesuit (4-3, 1-3) to 96 yards of total offense and five first downs. The Blue Jays mustered just 10 yards rushing on 21 carries.
“We played really tough-nosed defense and have the best defense in the state,” Karr coach Brice Brown said. “(Jesuit coach Ryan Manale) is a great coach. He’s always going to scheme and give you some stuff you don’t see on film. I thought we adjusted well as the game went on.”
